Market Data Readiness Ops Specialist
Actively Reviewing
Bayer
Job Description
Purpose:
The Market Data Readiness Ops Specialist is a hands-on operational role responsible for ensuring global market data is complete, accurate, well-mapped, and ready for consumption across analytics platforms and AI-powered tools. This role sits within the Global Market Data team and focuses on the day-to-day execution of data quality, vendor management, source integration, and process documentation — enabling the broader team to deliver trusted, activation-ready data at scale.
This is a role for someone who thrives in the detail — investigating data issues to their root cause, defining and refining mapping rules, enhancing global data attributes, and ensuring that every data feed arriving from external vendors meets the standards required for downstream analytics (including M360) and AI use cases. The specialist brings rigour to operational data processes while continuously looking for opportunities to automate, streamline, and document for scalability.
Critically, this role operates with an AI-first mindset. Every task — from attribute enrichment to mapping rule definition to documentation — is executed with awareness of how it enables or constrains AI tools downstream. The specialist understands that clean, well-structured, semantically rich data is the fuel for AI-powered products like Talk2Data and M360, and actively shapes their own work to maximize AI readiness. This means thinking beyond "is this data correct?" to "can a machine interpret this data accurately and consistently?"
As market data complexity grows and AI-powered tools demand higher data precision, this role ensures the foundational data layer is robust, well-documented, and continuously improving — serving as the operational backbone that makes strategic data and AI initiatives possible.

Key Tasks/ What You'll Do
- Enhance and maintain global market data attributes — ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency of product, category, channel, and geographic classifications across all sources, with explicit consideration for how attributes will be consumed by AI models.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues end-to-end — from initial detection through root cause analysis to corrective action and prevention.
- Define, document, and refine mapping rules for product matching, channel alignment, and cross-vendor harmonization — ensuring mapping logic is structured for both human understanding and machine interpretability.
- Manage day-to-day vendor interactions (IQVIA, NielsenIQ, GfK, Euromonitor) — monitoring feed delivery, flagging anomalies, raising tickets, and tracking resolution.
- Integrate new data sources into the global market data environment — validating formats, aligning to taxonomies, and ensuring readiness for platform ingestion and AI activation.
- Support M360 analytics by ensuring underlying market data is structured, mapped, and quality-assured to meet reporting and insight requirements.
- Actively leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot, GenAI assistants, n8n, automation scripts) in daily work to increase efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve output quality — serving as a role model for AI-augmented operations.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities within data operations — proposing where AI or rule-based automation can replace repetitive manual tasks in mapping, validation, and quality checks.
- Create and maintain operational documentation — including process SOPs, mapping logic, vendor feed specifications, data dictionaries, and troubleshooting guides — written with clarity and structure that supports both human users and AI system context layers.
- Support training and onboarding of local data stewards and business users on data standards, tools, AI product usage, and processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by flagging recurring issues, proposing process enhancements, and supporting implementation of new AI-enabled tools or workflows.

- Experience defining and applying data mapping rules, product matching logic, and classification standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — ability to investigate data issues systematically and drive resolution.
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Azure, Databricks, workflow tools, scripting basics, or prompt engineering is a plus.
- AI-curious and AI-literate — comfortable using GenAI tools in daily work, understanding how data quality and structure impact AI outputs, and eager to learn how AI reshapes data operations.
