Marine Superintendent - LPG/Oil Vessels

Summary of Position: 

Primary function to ensure safe, smooth and efficient ship operations, assist in maintaining Major Approval and TMSA for company.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•  Carry out shipboard audits as required.
• Carry out shipboard staff appraisals of vessels visited.
•  Carry out Incident / near miss investigation as required.
•  Monitor cargo operations of their vessels. Carry out live cargo audits on board.
•  Guide the vessel’s Master on safe cargo planning and safe sea passage by carrying out pre voyage reviews with Master.
•  Assist the Marine department in Implementation of safe navigation practice on board ships.
• Carry out live navigation audit and assessment for ships.
•  Assist in crewing activities and liaise with crewing agents. Ensure documentation and forms are up to date.
•  Monitor ballasting / de-ballasting including heavy weather ballasting operations of their vessels.
•  Attend vessels from time to time for purpose of carrying out shipboard inspections and / or for supervising tank cleaning, cargo operations or any other matters.
• Carry out shipboard and shore-based training of officers and crew in matters pertaining to tanker operations, quality management systems and other matters as deemed appropriate from time to time.
•  Deal with contingencies as defined in Element 11 of SMS.
•  Conduct Pre-selection interview of senior deck officers.
• Liaise with parties, such as Class, Oil Majors, Ship Owners and Suppliers Etc.
•  Analyse reports, such as SIRE/CDI, Flag state, PSC, External audits and other such reports for quarterly and annual reviews.
•  Assist with ISO 9k , 14 k and 45 K documentation and processes as required
•  Developing shipboard training program in close co-ordination with service providers.
•  Monitor HSSEQ standard and promote HEEEQ campaigns
•  Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned by Director Marine or COO.
