Management Trainee – Business Development Intern | AFL Program

About the AFL Program

The AGP Fast-track Leadership (AFL) Program is designed to identify and groom ambitious candidates who aspire to build a career in Sales, Marketing, and Business Development leadership.

This program offers structured training, hands-on field exposure, and role rotations that allow candidates to understand the education publishing market, institutional sales, and demand generation strategies.

Selected candidates will work closely with educational institutions, learn market dynamics, and gradually take on team leadership responsibilities. The program prepares candidates to eventually lead departments and manage business operations.

At AGP, Sales Managers are considered the backbone of the organization, playing a crucial role in driving market growth and maintaining strong institutional relationships.

Program Structure 🏆Phase 1: Business Development Trainee (First 6 Months)

During the first phase, candidates will learn the fundamentals of institutional sales and relationship management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Visiting schools and educational institutions to interact with Principals and key decision-makers.
  • Presenting AGP’s academic offerings and convincing schools to participate in Teacher Workshops and academic initiatives.
  • Understanding institutional needs and building strong professional relationships.
  • Learning how to effectively represent AGP products and services.
Phase 2: Business Development Executive (Next 6 Months)

In this phase, candidates will work on target-driven activities and marketing execution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Following up with school authorities and decision-makers to convert discussions into business opportunities.
  • Managing and closing assigned target activities.
  • Learning and executing ATL (Above the Line) and BTL (Below the Line) marketing strategies.
  • Expanding AGP’s reach and strengthening its presence across educational institutions.
Phase 3: Senior Business Development Executive (After 1 Year)

After completing the training phases successfully, candidates will move into leadership and team management responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and mentoring a team of graduates and business executives.
  • Planning and executing regional campaigns and demand generation initiatives.
  • Strengthening the connection between schools, retailers, and distributors to increase market reach.
  • Developing strategies to generate demand and drive business growth in assigned regions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of AGP’s product portfolio and educational offerings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, principals, and academic stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular offline visits to educational institutions (B2B customers) to promote AGP products and gather feedback.
  • Maintain daily activity updates and customer data using the CRM system.
  • Identify market trends and suggest strategic improvements for business expansion.
  • Assist in quality checks and on-ground training of field executives across different cities.
  • Support regional campaigns and ensure smooth coordination with internal teams.
Skills Required

  • Confidence in interacting with institutional stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Ability to build long-term professional relationships.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Graduate or Postgraduate (MBA preferred but not mandatory).
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with 0–2 years of experience in sales, marketing, or business development can apply.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with field travel and institutional client interaction.
