Job Description
About The Company
Aramco energizes the world economy. Aramco occupies a special position in the global energy industry. We are one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals, with among the lowest Upstream carbon intensities of any major producer. With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society. Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades of experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply. We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
About The Role
We are seeking a Refining & Optimization Specialist with expertise in linear programming (LP) tools to join our Operation Engineering Solutions Department. The primary focus of this role is to provide advanced optimization and economic advisory services to our refining and chemicals facilities, ensuring that LP models accurately reflect operational realities and contribute to margin enhancement across our portfolio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving process improvements, supporting strategic decision-making, and fostering a culture of continuous optimization within our organization.
The Operation Engineering Solutions Department, under the umbrella of Global Manufacturing, is responsible for delivering specialized process and operations engineering support across all process technologies in both wholly-owned and affiliated refining and chemical facilities. This department leads initiatives related to refining and petrochemical performance benchmarking, technology stewardship, and the implementation of best engineering practices. Your role will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize refinery configurations, improve profitability, and support capital projects through rigorous technical and economic evaluations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution; an advanced degree is preferred. You should possess at least 15 years of professional experience in refining linear programming, with a minimum of 10 years dedicated to LP modeling, optimization, and economic analysis. Extensive hands-on experience in refining process engineering, particularly within complex main units such as Continuous Catalytic Reforming (CCR) or Hydrocracking, is essential. Additional experience in refinery-wide optimization, including product giveaway management, blending, and mass balance performance, will be advantageous.
You must demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard LP modeling platforms such as Aspen PIMS (including PIMS-AO, PIMS Platinum), Haverly GRTMPS, or Honeywell RPMS, along with supporting tools for crude assay management and sub-model maintenance. Your experience should encompass diverse refining configurations, including atmospheric and vacuum distillation, fluid catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, aromatics, and hydroprocessing, across multiple sites or configurations. Proven success in applying LP models to achieve quantifiable margin improvements, energy cost reductions, or product slate optimization is required. A comprehensive understanding of refining economics, global crude and product markets, and industry trends is also necessary.
Responsibilities
Our employees are drawn to the challenging and rewarding environment we offer, supported by world-class projects, advanced technology, and significant investment in talent development. We provide competitive remuneration packages aligned with industry standards, comprehensive health and wellness benefits, and opportunities for professional growth through continuous training and development programs. Our work environment encourages innovation, collaboration, and excellence, enabling employees to contribute meaningfully to the company’s success and the global energy sector.
At Aramco, employees have access to a wide range of resources and support systems designed to foster career advancement and personal development. We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging workplace where diversity is valued and every individual’s contributions are recognized and rewarded.
