Must have skills required: ELT tooling, Gcp bigquery, python for data ops, B2B Experience, Look ML, Looker, SaaS, embedded analytics, Advanced SQL LL is Looking for: Role: Looker Analytics Engineer (GCP) Overview Client is supporting a global leader in human performance and healthcare analytics. This role is a unique opportunity to be the primary Looker specialist on a greenfield analytics project that will directly power embedded product features used by hundreds of organisations and thousands of healthcare and performance specialists globally. The engineer will stand up the Looker semantic layer, deliver demo-ready dashboards for sales, and embed governed self-service analytics into the product experience. Engagement Details Start Date: Immediate Initial Term: 12 months with the possibility of extension Location: Fully remote Working Hours: 8h/day, availability required during UK business hours About The Project The project, Looker Cutover, is a greenfield migration of the client?s presentation/analytics layer onto Looker, replacing legacy in-house reporting. Early success = delivering high-quality demo dashboards to support sales. Longer-term = delivering a complex embedded Looker feature and establishing scalable governance, templates, and enablement for non-experts. Candidate will be the sole Looker authority within a cross-functional team of ~12, supported by Google GCP experts and the client data engineering team. Must-Have Experience & Skills Technical 4+ years Looker/LookML (modelling, Explores, PDTs, RLS/permissioning, Git workflows) 5+ years advanced SQL on columnar warehouses 4+ years dimensional data modelling (star/snowflake, SCDs, grains/joins) 2+ years embedded analytics (governance, row-level security, self-service enablement) Nice to have: GCP BigQuery (tables, partitioning, clustering, IAM, performance tuning), ELT tooling (dbt or similar), Python for data ops Business & Delivery: 4+ years working with Product & Engineering to deliver analytics as a product feature 3+ years cross-functional stakeholder management 1+ year supporting sales enablement with demo dashboards Experience in B2B SaaS and embedded analytics contexts Soft Skills Excellent communicator, able to bridge product needs and semantic models Collaborative enabler/mentor?comfortable coaching peers and non-experts Delivery-focused, pragmatic, and comfortable with ambiguity High ownership mindset, strong documentation discipline Responsibilities Own Looker development end-to-end (LookML, Explores, dashboards, testing, deployment) Translate product and user needs into governed, scalable semantic models Implement embedded analytics patterns (SSO embed, RLS, caching, PDTs) Establish templates, governance guardrails, and performance baselines Mentor engineers/analysts to reduce reliance on a single specialist (Optional/Nice to have) Partner with Data Engineering to inform upstream models; contribute to data ops improvements where relevant Success Criteria: 4?6 weeks: deliver production-ready LookML models & demo dashboards By end of Q1 2026: lead delivery of complex embedded analytics feature with governed self-service templates Establish repeatable best practices, CI/testing for Looker changes, and clear documentation Upskill broader team in Looker usage and governance Working Practices Methodology: SCRUM Team Size: ~12 cross-functional members (Engineering, Product, Quality, Architecture) Tooling: Looker, BigQuery, Git/GitHub, Jira, Slack, Google Workspace Ceremonies: Daily stand-ups; weekly planning/backlog grooming; ad-hoc working sessions Assessment Process CV Review ?
