Role Overview
The Legal Researcher will conduct detailed legal and regulatory research in support of Loch's client matters and internal advisory needs. This role involves reviewing statutes, regulations, and case law, and preparing clear, well-supported research outputs for use by internal teams and clients. The Legal Researcher will work closely with the Legal Manager and other stakeholders to ensure research is accurate, current, and delivered within agreed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal sources relevant to client matters
- Prepare research memos, briefs, and summaries clearly setting out findings and relevant authorities
- Support case and matter preparation with accurate and timely research inputs
- Monitor and track legal and regulatory developments relevant to client sectors and practice areas
- Maintain organised research records and reference databases for future use
- Assist with due diligence research as required
- Verify accuracy and currency of legal citations and sources used in research outputs
- Liaise with internal legal team members and, where required, external counsel
- Support the Legal Content Writer and other teams with verified legal source material
Key Deliverables
- Research outputs delivered within agreed turnaround timeframes
- Research memos and briefs of consistently high accuracy and clarity
- An up-to-date tracker of relevant legal and regulatory developments
- Organised, well-maintained research records and reference materials
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong legal research skills, including use of legal databases and primary source materials
- Analytical mindset with the ability to distil complex legal material into clear findings
- High accuracy and attention to detail in citation and referencing
- Strong drafting skills for memos, briefs, and summaries
- Discretion in handling confidential and privileged information
- Ability to manage multiple research requests concurrently and meet deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law
- Three to four years of experience in legal research, paralegal work, or a closely related role

Commensurate with experience.

Compliance and Confidentiality

The role holder must maintain confidentiality of all client, commercial, and operational information at all times.
