This role will report to SAP Data Manager in India and functionally collaborate with global SAP Data team. Key Accountabilities SAP BW has been a fundamental part of our data architecture in GMI Landscape, but to maximize its potential, we need dedicated leadership? A Lead Engineer in SAP BW is expected to combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership?driving automation, building robust and standardized processes, and leveraging AI to enhance data solutions; aligning SAP BW initiatives with organizational goals; proactively mentoring and developing talent; sharing technical know-how within and beyond the team; and anticipating opportunities to design and implement scalable, innovative architectures that maximize business impact. Requirements As a Lead Engineer in SAP BW/4 HANA, you will analyze the technical feasibility of specialist concepts, record customer requirements, create data processing concepts and implement these in stable, scalable, and high-performance SAP Data Warehouse solutions. Depending on the focus of your work, you will carry out the following tasks: The Lead Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, managing, and supporting SAP BW solutions across the BW landscape, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a robust data architecture while ensuring that data insights drive key business initiatives, enhance decision-making, and create competitive advantages. Lead Engineer would streamline processes across the entire data lifecycle?from extraction and transformation to reporting. By driving standardization, the Lead Engineer ensures consistency, accuracy, and reliability of reports, which is crucial for management and stakeholders who depend on timely and precise data. The Lead Engineer partners and collaborates with business analysts, architects, and key project stakeholders to deliver strategic business initiatives. The role involves creating or improving processes to enhance system scalability, promoting automation, and driving continuous improvement within BW processes. Responsibilities include conducting code reviews, enforcing best practices, and mentoring team members through knowledge-sharing. The Lead Engineer owns critical BW objects, data pipelines, and workflows, managing incident escalations and serving as the go-to technical expert. They proactively ensure optimal system performance, effective housekeeping, and efficient data lifecycle management. A key responsibility is to ensure that the SAP BW system remains agile, scalable, and adaptable to evolving business needs, including increased data volumes and emerging data types. The Lead Engineer participates in a rotating support schedule, with a strong focus on execution and delivery. They take ownership of implementation, development, and operational aspects of SAP BW solutions, ensuring day-to-day technical quality, performance optimization, and prompt issue resolution Must Have Technical Skills And Experience 15+ years of experience in SAP BW4/HANA space Experienced in 5-6 implementations project and 4-5 Support/Enhancement. Extensive hands-on experience with SAP BW/4HANA architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts. Strong expertise in designing and implementing ETL processes using SAP BW/4HANA tools (e.g., Data Flows, ADSOs, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views). Proficiency in SAP HANA native modeling, SQL scripting, and performance tuning. Advanced ABAP programming skills for custom data extraction, transformation, and reporting solutions. Experience integrating SAP BW/4HANA with other SAP modules (FI/CO, SD, MM) and third-party systems. Hands-on experience migrating from SAP BW 7.5 on HANA to SAP BW/4HANA, including planning, execution, and post-migration optimization. Expertise in SAP BW Integrated Planning (IP) for advanced planning and forecasting solutions. Proven track record of automating data pipelines, process chains, and reporting solutions. Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud, Analysis for Office, and other SAP reporting tools. Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in SAP environments. Demonstrated ability to standardize processes and implement best practices across SAP BW/4HANA solutions. Experience with AI/ML integration in data pipelines or analytics (e.g., using SAP Data Intelligence, Python, or similar tools). Exposure to DevOps practices, version control, and CI/CD automation for SAP BW/4HANA projects. Experience leading technical design, code reviews,Ability to document technical solutions and mentor team members on SAP BW/4HANA best practices. Demonstrated success in mentoring, coaching, and developing technical talent. Track record of driving process improvement, automation, or digital transformation initiatives. Exposure to AI/ML-driven analytics or data science projects within SAP landscapes. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including presenting complex technical topics to non-technical audiences. Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or similar). Active participation in SAP or data engineering communities (conferences, forums, knowledge sharing). Ability to influence data strategy and contribute to architectural decisions beyond immediate project scope Good To Have Skills SAP Analytics Cloud, SAC Planning, SAP Datasphere. Experience working in an Agile methodology environment. Tableau end-user experience (nice to have) Skill Proficiency Experience Familiarity in Agile-Scrum. Comfortable presenting to senior leaders. Effectively manage stakeholder relationship. Expertise across SD, MM, COPA domain Minimum Qualifications Education ? Full time graduation from an accredited university (Mandatory- Note: This is the minimum education criteria which cannot be altered). Bachelor?s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent relevant discipline Preferred Qualifications SAP BW4HANA Certified Understanding of Consumer Goods Industry
