In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative, cloud-native, AI-driven products for Epiq's Fortune-500 customers. This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of cloud services, applied AI, and application engineering. This is the first hire of a new team chartered to build next-generation products for a new market. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to ensure successful software development and implementation. This role is part of Epiq's Legal Solutions organization. Initially, you will report directly to the team's U.S.-based Director of Product Management. As the team and our plans mature, we will integrate in our Hyderabad-based product-engineering teams. Job Responsibilities Hands-on product development: Design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade products. To start, you will do most of the coding. In addition, you will develop and implement software development plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor software development progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure timely completion. Cloud: Leverage the tools and services of hyperscale cloud providers to move fast and plan for scale. Manage our cloud production environment, balancing observability, performance, and cost. Applied AI: Select and operationalize foundation and ML models; write, test and optimize prompts; train, ground, and fine-tune models; measure, evaluate, and improve model performance. Architect, build, and operate agentic systems. Data: Clean, label, and manage training data, knowledge bases, and target responses; generate synthetic data; partner with domain experts to capture tacit knowledge. Innovation: Rapidly build prototypes and MVP for product ideas, often using low-code toolkits. Strategy: Lead discussion on technical strategy and architecture. Applied research: Stay current with AI trends, tools, and technologies, and apply them to solve clients' real-world problems. Collaboration & communication: Partner with product managers, designers, domain experts, and advisory customers. Help shape requirements and roadmap. Communicate technical details to business stakeholders. Leadership: Define best practices, coding standards, and testing practices. Onboard and mentor new teammates as they arrive. Do the groundwork to establish practices, processes, and culture for a growing team. Requirements Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field. Experience: 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, AI/ML engineer, or similar role. Cloud: Hands-on experience building and operating SaaS applications in production on hyperscale cloud. Azure preferred; AWS and GCP acceptable too. AI/ML/Data Science: Hands-on experience building and deploying generative and agentic AI solutions. Experience training ML and deploying ML models. Hands-on experience with training, grounding, and tuning data as well as conducting data analysis. Programming: Proficiency in Python. Familiarity with AI and data science frameworks/libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn). Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles; AI, machine learning, NLP, and neural networks; and data management. Development: Experience with Agile, SDLC, CI/CD, containerization, RESTful APIs, and MLOps tools. Soft skills: Client-focused, results-driven, and entrepreneurial?comfortable working from 0?1. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an office environment and perform tasks that may require sitting, standing, and using office equipment.
