Lead Middleware Developer (Backend)

Position Title : Senior Backend & Middleware Engineer Location : Chennai, Tamil Nadu Overview : We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend & Middleware Engineer to join our core technology team. This role is pivotal to driving our modernization strategy, building scalable backend systems, and enabling middleware services to support new initiatives such as API Studio, Global Payroll Console, and AI/ML-based features. Key Responsibilities: ? Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and middleware components. ? Work closely with product, engineering, and AI teams to implement new initiatives in payroll, HRTech, and performance management systems. ? Develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs to integrate with internal and external systems. ? Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security across all backend services. ? Contribute to modernization by adopting microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-native practices. ? Collaborate with DevOps for CI/CD pipeline automation, monitoring, and observability. ? Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design discussions. Required Qualifications & Skills: ? Mandatory Min 3+ years of experience in backend development with strong knowledge of middleware technologies. ? Proficiency in one or more backend languages ( Java, C# , Node.js) along with Spring Boot, .Net core , Asp.Net . ? Hands-on experience with API frameworks (RESTful, GraphQL) , messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) , and event-driven systems. ? Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases ( PostgreSQL, MongoDB ). ? Experience in designing and implementing scalable microservices architectures. ? Prior experience working with a HR Tech platform project will be an advantage. ? Exposure to Azure, AWS, GCP or other cloud platforms. ? Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization ( Docker/Kubernetes ). ? Good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
