Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Mechanical Designer to drive our New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. This is a critical leadership role for an individual who is not just technically proficient but also passionate about taking concepts from scratch to mass production. If you possess a deep understanding of fabrication technologies, electromechanical systems, and a "hustler" mindset, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development:

  • Concept to Reality: Lead the end-to-end design process, translating complex concepts into physical objects.
  • Technical Execution: Design sheet metal, weldments, surface models, and molded components.
  • Documentation: Generate detailed, accurate drawings for parts and assemblies, incorporating GD&T and stack-up analysis.
  • BOM Management: Prepare and maintain comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) for all active projects.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Lead the design and development of new prototypes; review and perform rigorous tests to finalize designs for mass production.
  • Strategic & Operational Excellence:
  • Optimization: Continuously analyze new components, materials, and technologies to enhance product quality while minimizing costs (VA/VE).
  • Redesign: Evaluate existing products to drive functionality enhancements or cost reductions.
  • Technical Control: Oversee the preparation, review, and control of internal technical documentation.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into design or production failures to implement permanent solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality departments to ensure seamless execution.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in New Product Development (NPD).
  • Design Tools: Sound proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Hands-on expertise in drafting, detailing, modeling, surfacing, and concept designing.
    • Deep specialization in all types of Metal and Plastics.
    • Expertise in fabrication technologies: cutting, forming, punching, stamping, shearing, and welding.
    • Strong knowledge of material selection and electromechanical systems.
  • Methodologies: * Experience with DFM, DFS, DFA, and DFMEA.
    • Load test analysis.
    • Six Sigma and 5S principles.
    • VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering).
  • Technical Detail: Thorough understanding of GD&T and stack-up analysis.
