About the Role We?re looking for a Lead Android Engineer to architect, design, and develop high-performance Android applications. You?ll lead a talented team of engineers, define best practices, and drive technical excellence across our mobile ecosystem. This role requires hands-on expertise in Android frameworks, Android Frontend Engineering with strong expertise in Jetpack Compose, and scalable application architecture. You?ll work closely with product, backend, and design teams to deliver seamless, engaging, and reliable streaming experiences to millions of fans. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of Android applications with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability. Drive architectural decisions, ensuring consistency across modules and platforms. Write clean, modular Kotlin code following best practices and design patterns. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and product goals into robust technical solutions. Lead code reviews, performance profiling, and release planning to ensure engineering excellence. Guide and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ownership. Stay current with Android technologies, contributing to DAZN?s evolving technical roadmap. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of total experience in software development, with 2+ years in a Lead or Architecture role . Strong hands-on experience with Android app development using Kotlin and Java . Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, modular architectures for mobile apps. Experience integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL , and backend services . Proficiency in software design patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, MVI) and mobile development best practices. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines , build automation, and release workflows. Strong understanding of SOA, JSON/REST, and XML/SOAP -based integrations. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and leadership skills. Nice to Have Experience with AWS services (Lambda, Aurora, SQS) or GCP Firebase . Knowledge of broadcast systems , digital video pipelines , or metadata workflows . Exposure to event-driven architectures, microservices , and real-time data systems .
