Job Title: Lead Analyst/Senior Software Engineer - Big Data Developer with Python, Hadoop, PySpark & SQL Position Title: Lead Analyst/Senior Software Engineer Experience: 5 to 10 Years Category: Technology/Software Development Main location: Hyderabad Shift Timings: General Shift Employment Type: Full Time-Permanent Position ID: J0925-0878 Role Overview: CGI is looking for a skilled Big Data Developer who can design, develop, and optimize large-scale data processing pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with distributed systems, data ingestion frameworks, ETL pipelines, and performance tuning within the Big Data ecosystem. Your future duties and responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Develop, optimize, and maintain distributed data processing pipelines using PySpark and Spark SQL. Write clean, reusable, and efficient Python code for ETL, data transformation, and automation workflows. Build and manage large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, or similar technologies. Work with HDFS, Hive, HBase, or cloud-based data lakes (AWS/S3, Azure ADLS, GCP). Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and transformation. Perform data profiling, data quality checks, and implement validation rules within pipelines. Optimize Spark jobs for performance, resource usage, and scalability. Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed systems (Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, Hive). Contribute to best practices for coding, version control, CI/CD, and documentation. Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role Required Skills: Strong programming experience in Python (data manipulation, ETL logic, modular coding). Hands-on expertise in PySpark (RDD, DataFrames, Spark SQL, UDFs, optimization). Advanced SQL skills (joins, window functions, performance tuning). Experience with Hadoop ecosystem: HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Oozie/Livy (as applicable). Knowledge of data lake & cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience working with data ingestion from APIs, files, Kafka, and DB sources. Understanding of distributed computing concepts (partitioning, shuffling, caching). Version control tools like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies. Good-to-Have Skills: Knowledge of Spark Streaming, Kafka, Airflow, or NiFi. Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Exposure to DataBricks, EMR, or HDInsight. Knowledge of NoSQL databases (HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB). Familiarity with performance tuning at the cluster and job level. Education: Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
