Junior QA/QA Engineer

Summary

We are looking for a Junior QA / QA Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone starting their QA career with 2+ years of experience in software testing.

Location: Halton Hills, ON

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days on-site at our Halton Hills office and 2 days remote

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm

Wage: $28.85 - $30.00/hr. Contract role for 8 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and monitor QA test suites and test plans.
• Execute manual test cases for applications, system patches, and application upgrades.
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and service-level testing.
• Validate transactions, screen flows, and error scenarios to ensure accuracy and system stability.
• Test releases from development to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Work with developers to reproduce issues and verify bug fixes.
• Write clear bug reports, test documentation, and maintain test evidence.
• Perform defect retesting and post-deployment validation.
• Translate business requirements into practical test scenarios.
• Conduct peer reviews and overall QA quality checks.
• Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to support timely and high-quality releases.
• Identify clear reproduction steps for issues reported by customers.
• Verify builds for quality prior to production deployment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and perform other QA-related duties as required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in QA/testing or internship experience preferred.
• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of manual testing processes, test management, defect lifecycle, and STLC.
• Experience or exposure to Data Quality Management (DQM).
• Familiarity with issue or defect tracking systems such as JIRA or similar platforms used for managing and tracking bugs.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have (Optional)

• Basic SQL knowledge for testing or data validation.
• Exposure to automation testing concepts or tools.
