Junior Database Administrator

Job Summary

We are looking for a Database Administrator with 1–2 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SQL Server, along with exposure to PostgreSQL and MongoDB. In this role, you will support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of database environments while working closely with senior DBAs and development teams to ensure database reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

• Assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of database environments.


• Support day-to-day database administration activities across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.


• Monitor database health, availability, and performance, and escalate issues when necessary.


• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and health checks.

Performance Monitoring

• Monitor database performance and assist in identifying performance bottlenecks.


• Support query optimization and indexing activities under the guidance of senior team members.


• Help troubleshoot database-related issues affecting applications and services.

Backup & Recovery

• Execute scheduled database backups and verify backup integrity.


• Assist in database restoration and disaster recovery sing.


• Support the implementation of backup and recovery best practices.

Security & Compliance

• Assist in managing database user accounts, permissions, and access controls.


• Help maintain database security standards and follow company policies.


• Support regular database maintenance activities to ensure data integrity.

Automation & Documentation

• Assist in automating routine database administration tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or similar scripting languages.


• Maintain database documentation, including configurations, procedures, and operational guides.


• Support database deployments and environment setup activities.

Collaboration

• Work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, and senior DBAs to resolve database-related issues.


• Participate in troubleshooting production incidents when required.


• Continuously learn and adopt database administration best practices and new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.


• 
  1–2 years of experience in Database Administration or a similar role.
  


• 
  Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  


• 
  Basic working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.
  


• Understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, indexing, and SQL querying.

Technical Skills

• Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later is preferred).


• Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB administration.


• Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL.


• Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell or other scripting languages is a plus.


• Familiarity with database backup and recovery concepts.


• Understanding of database monitoring and performance tuning fundamentals.


• Exposure to cloud database services (AWS or Azure) is an advantage.


• Familiarity with Git, Docker, or CI/CD concepts is considered a plus.
