JOB SUMMARY:


This is a full-time, on-site Junior Accountant role based in West Hartford, CT. The Junior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, including maintaining general ledger entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries
  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts
  • Process customer payments and assemble deposits
  • Review daily retail batch activity
  • Manage tax exempt customer data
  • Review open customer orders including layaway and deposit activity
  • Review and process employee reimbursement requests
  • Reconcile vendor statements and file paid invoices
  • Assist with all aspects of web order fulfillment including shipping
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Analyze financial data and report discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Other projects as requested by supervisor


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (especially GAAP)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, QuickBooks)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred
