We're looking for a highly experienced DevOps consultant who can audit our existing infrastructure, identify bottlenecks, improve reliability, strengthen security, and significantly optimize infrastructure costs.

This is a hands-on consulting engagement rather than an operational support role.

Project Objective

During this engagement, you will perform a complete technical audit of our DevOps infrastructure and recommend practical improvements that increase reliability while reducing infrastructure costs.

You should be comfortable reviewing an existing setup, challenging current practices, and implementing better engineering standards where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive audit of our existing cloud infrastructure, DevOps processes, and deployment architecture.
• Review Kubernetes clusters, networking, ingress, load balancing, and overall infrastructure architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cloud infrastructure costs without compromising performance or availability.
• Optimize Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling strategies, and compute utilization.
• Review CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications (Android & iOS), backend APIs, and web applications.
• Improve deployment speed, reliability, rollback strategies, and release automation.
• Audit build pipelines and recommend optimizations to reduce build times and improve developer productivity.
• Review infrastructure security, including IAM policies, secrets management, container security, and production access controls.
• Evaluate logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability practices, and recommend improvements where required.
• Assess backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies for production systems.
• Identify infrastructure bottlenecks, operational risks, and potential single points of failure.
• Review Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and recommend improvements for maintainability and consistency.
• Evaluate database, storage, networking, and CDN configurations for performance and cost optimization.
• Recommend best practices for scalability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Work closely with the engineering team to implement high-priority improvements during the engagement.
• Prepare a detailed audit report with findings, recommendations, implementation priorities, and estimated impact.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and hand over documentation to enable the internal engineering team to maintain the optimized infrastructure independently.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the engagement, you should have:

• Completed a comprehensive audit of our existing infrastructure and DevOps practices.
• Identified actionable opportunities to reduce cloud infrastructure costs.
• Improved the reliability, scalability, and security of our deployment infrastructure.
• Optimized CI/CD pipelines to reduce build and deployment times.
• Delivered a prioritized roadmap of recommendations with implementation guidance.
• Implemented agreed high-impact improvements where feasible within the engagement period.
• Provided clear documentation and knowledge transfer to the engineering team.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure
• Strong Linux administration skills
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Experience designing scalable production systems
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms
• Experience optimizing cloud infrastructure costs
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting consumer mobile applications
• Experience with React Native, Flutter or native mobile app release pipelines
• Experience with Expo EAS, Fastlane, Firebase App Distribution or similar mobile deployment workflows
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or GitLab CI
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven systems
• Experience with CDN and edge infrastructure
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices
