Java Technical Architect

As an Experienced Java Technical Architect within the Cloud First practice, you’ll play a strategic role in designing, building, and modernising enterprise-grade applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem. You’ll work on large-scale international projects, drive architecture decisions, mentor development teams, and contribute to innovative cloud-native solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance Java applications using the Spring framework.
• Translate complex business requirements into robust and maintainable technical solutions.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Leverage Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
• Design and optimize database schemas and integrations using Hibernate/JPA.
• Debug, test, and support applications across development, staging, and production environments.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, QA, DevOps, and Business stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure application scalability and reliability.
• Contribute actively to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Mentor and guide development teams while promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Produce and maintain technical architecture documentation, design specifications, and implementation guidelines.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, cloud-native trends, and software engineering innovations.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Strong experience in Java development and enterprise application architecture.
• Expertise in the Spring ecosystem including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture principles.
• Experience with Hibernate/JPA and relational database technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Knowledge of performance optimisation, scalability, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
