Java Developer

Are you a Java Developer who'd enjoy building systems that support active trading and investment strategies, within a technology-led investment company?

You’ll join a Glasgow engineering team that develops software used directly by investment professionals across global markets. Technology here exists to enable speed, accuracy and informed decision-making, with engineers closely involved in how systems are designed and used.

The role

You’ll work on backend services that underpin market-facing platforms, handling data flows, calculations and integrations where reliability and performance are critical.

This includes:

• Designing and building backend services and APIs
• Working with distributed, data-intensive systems
• Improving scalability, resilience and observability
• Contributing to new initiatives as the platform evolves

The technical environment includes Java, Kafka, Snowflake, some Python, modern cloud infrastructure and containerised services.

What they’re looking for

This suits an engineer who enjoys ownership, values clean system design and wants to understand how their work supports trading and investment activity. Experience in fast-moving, performance-sensitive environments is useful, but strong engineering fundamentals matter most.
