What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):
The Intermediate Quality Engineer leads testing activities within CIBC’s Core Banking and Payments Technology Quality Engineering team This role is responsible for developing and maintaining performance test scripts, creating comprehensive test plans and schedules, and ensuring all testing processes meet quality standards and project timelines The incumbent works closely with project managers, developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions and continuous improvement in testing methodologies

How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):
Testing Expertise:
- You have clear and crisp communication and can speak the language of performance testing.
- Capable of running all phases of the performance testing lifecycle.
- Ability to script using multiple protocols but more specifically HTTP, Rest API’s and Java Gui.
- Ability to raise defect using ALM or equivalent defect tool and troubleshooting performance defects or capable of investigating where issues lie.
- Skilled in using performance testing tools such as LoadRunner Enterprise, Neo Load, JMeter as well as Application Performance Monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk.
- Can understand and read AWR reports and log analysis reports.
- Conduct testing on a wide variety of applications ranging from web and database as well as custom apps.
- Ability to script using multiple protocols but more specifically HTTP, Rest API’s and Java Gui execution.
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate efforts of internal and external testing teams to ensure timely completion of test phases.
- Identify and communicate obstacles or risks impacting project timelines or success.
- Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and escalate issues as necessary.
- Ensure all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to project timelines, budgets, and goals.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technology partners to ensure quality standards are met and non-functional requirements captured.
- Work under the guidance of Level 7 – Consultant – IT Quality Assurance.
- Work closely with project managers, developers, quality engineers, and external vendors to coordinate testing activities and resolve issues.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

- As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
- Scope includes coordination of testing activities for Core Banking and Payments Technology projects.
- Responsible for coordinating testing efforts across multiple projects and teams.
- Direct influence over the quality of deliverables impacting client-facing banking and payment services.
- Advisory responsibilities for process improvement and technology adoption within the team.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience
Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
- 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance including test planning, script development, strategy, and execution.
- Clear understanding of Testing Processes, Testing Life Cycle, SDLC, and Defect Management.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Performance Testing using LoadRunner Enterprise or equivalent.
- It’s an asset if you have experience building simulators using Parasoft Virtualize, have rooted knowledge of APM tools specifically Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Have experience with scripting protocols such as HTTP, REST API, MQ, or Java GUI, with some software development experience in Java, C#, Python, VBScript, or other programming languages.
- Understanding troubleshooting, debugging and analyzing code logs and development techniques.
Must Have Skills:
- Performance tools: Neo load or equivalent.
- Test Planning: Ability to work through all stages of the Performance Testing Lifecycle.
- Protocols: Performance Testing of multiple protocols, specifically with API/JSON and Web/HTTP.
- API Testing: (SOAP/Rest).
- Database Understanding: MS SQL and Oracle.
- APM tools specifically Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana.
