Interior Designer

Company Description Aikyam Architects and Interior Designers is a Chandigarh and Shimla-based studio focused on contemporary architecture and interior design for homes and commercial spaces across North India. The team specializes in residential projects for multi-generational families, blending modern design with the timeless principles of Vastu Shastra. Each project is approached holistically, balancing functionality, aesthetics, and spiritual alignment to support the wellbeing of every resident. Aikyam provides full-cycle services including architectural design, interior design, space planning, structural detailing, and turnkey execution. The studio is driven by the idea of “aikyam” or “oneness,” integrating tradition, technology, and human-centered living in every design.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Interior Designer role based in Shimla. The Interior Designer will collaborate with architects and clients to develop concept designs, mood boards, and detailed interior layouts for residential and commercial projects. Daily tasks include space planning, selecting finishes, materials, and FF&E, preparing construction and presentation drawings, and coordinating with vendors, contractors, and site teams. The role involves regular site visits to oversee execution, ensure design intent is maintained, and address on-site challenges in real time. The Interior Designer will also participate in client meetings, support branded proposal development, and help refine design documentation, BOQ and standards.

Qualifications

• Strong Interior Design skills, including concept development, material selection, and FF&E coordination.
• Proficiency in Space Planning to create functional, ergonomic layouts for multi-generational residential and commercial spaces.
• Knowledge of Architecture fundamentals and integration of interior solutions within architectural frameworks.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate Construction Drawings and detailed documentation for execution teams.
• Familiarity with Vastu Shastra principles and an interest in holistic, human-centered design.
• Proficiency in design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) and basic presentation tools.
• Strong visual communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate client needs into cohesive design solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, with relevant project or studio experience.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, and readiness to work on-site in Shimla with regular site coordination.
