As a Founding Engineer, you will be among the first 35 core engineers shaping the product, architecture, culture, and engineering standards from ground zero (0?1).

Many universities and study-abroad agencies struggle with high volume of enquiries, delayed responses, manual workload and inconsistent communication. Univlane aims to automate and standardize that ideally improving lead capture, reducing drop-offs, and increasing throughput.

For global education, where students come from diverse backgrounds, multilingual and culturally intelligent communication helps, Univlane tries to address that.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Build, optimise, and scale backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS.
• Architect backend systems, APIs, and microservices for high performance and reliability.
• Design efficient data models, storage solutions, and caching layers for performance.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery architecture / development / deployment / monitoring.
• Improve system availability, reliability, and observability through monitoring & logging tools.
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, design, and founding leadership teams.
• Take deep ownership of code quality, reviews, testing, and deployment processes.
• Mentor future team members and shape the engineering culture at Univlane.
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• 4-7 years of backend development experience (Tier-1 talent preferred)
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js, Express or NestJS, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Solid understanding of API design, REST, microservices, authentication, security, rate limiting.
• Strong experience with databases (MongoDB or PostgreSQL) and query optimization.
• Good knowledge of queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka), caching (Redis), containerization (Docker).
• Ability to design scalable architectures and write clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with AWS/GCP or any cloud platform.
