The American Embassy School, New Delhi, has a vacancy for the position of an Instructional Support Specialist (ESP Program) for the next school year.


Position Summary: The Instructional Support Specialist is supervised by the ESP Lead Teacher and works to support ESP students throughout the school by providing assistance to individual or small groups of neurodivergent and developmentally disabled students. The Instructional Support Specialist  possesses the ability to recognize and work with the specific and individual needs of students in the ESP program.  Paraeducators must be able to demonstrate understanding, patience, and empathy for the students in ESP and be able to recognize and adjust for the strengths and limitations of the student to encourage and support inclusion. Instructional Support Specialists work with students toward the goal of independence and inclusion within the general classroom. Each specialist will be provided with a schedule and breaks throughout the day. While the goal is to have a consistent schedule and breaks each day, due to the nature of the program, these may change frequently and differ depending on the specific events and incidents of the day. 


Mandatory Requirements


Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education


Experience: Direct experience working with students, in a clinical or educational setting, who have intensive needs.  This includes students with neurodivergent diagnosis that include, but are not limited to: Autism, Intellectual Disability, Sensory Disorders or other disabilities that require a substantially modified curriculum and learning environment to ensure student success and growth.


Additional Requirements:

  • Training and/or experience in non physical crisis interventions and/or physical restraint techniques.


Work hours: 8 hours per day 

Workdays: 187 workdays in a year 


Starting salary: The starting salary would be Rs. 12,50,000/- per annum, based on experience, skills, and qualification, with additional benefits like PF, Gratuity, Medical, etc.
