Full-Time | Office-Based(Deavanahalli) | MEP Design Consultancy
1. Position Overview
We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented HVAC Design Engineer with 3–8 years of experience in MEP Design Consultancy. The candidate will be responsible for complete HVAC system design including air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, duct design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and HVAC BOQ preparation for residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, and industrial building projects.
This is a pure design consultancy role involving engineering calculations, layout preparation, coordination, and documentation. Site-only execution profiles will not be considered.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Air Conditioning System Design
- Preparation of complete HVAC System Design including AC Layout & Schematic Diagrams
- Heat Load Calculation as per ASHRAE standards
- Room-wise and Zone-wise Cooling Load Estimation
- Selection of Air Handling Units (AHU), Fan Coil Units (FCU), VRF/VRV Systems
- Chilled Water System Design including Chiller Selection & Pipe Sizing
- Refrigerant Piping Design for VRF/VRV Systems
- Fresh Air & Exhaust Air System Design
- Psychrometric Analysis and Air-side Design
B. Ventilation & Pressurization System Design
- Mechanical Ventilation System Design for Basements, Toilets & Utility Areas
- Staircase & Lift Lobby Pressurization System Design
- Kitchen Exhaust & Makeup Air System Design
- Car Park Ventilation Design (Jet Fan / Ducted System)
- Toilet Exhaust & Fresh Air System Design
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Compliance Design
C. Duct Design & Air Distribution
- Supply Air, Return Air & Fresh Air Duct Layout Design
- Duct Sizing using Equal Friction / Velocity Reduction Method
- Air Terminal Selection (Grilles, Diffusers, Linear Slots)
- Static Pressure Calculation & Fan Selection
- Duct Leakage Classification as per SMACNA Standards
- Acoustic & Vibration Control in Duct Design
D. Chilled Water & Hydronic System Design
- Primary & Secondary Chilled Water Piping Design
- Pump Selection & Head Calculation
- Pipe Sizing & Pressure Drop Calculation
- Expansion Tank & Buffer Tank Sizing
- Cooling Tower Selection & Condenser Water Piping Design
- Energy Recovery System Design (Heat Exchangers, Plate Type)
E. Equipment Room & Plant Room Engineering
- AHU Room & Chiller Plant Room Layout Planning
- Equipment Clearance & Maintenance Access Planning
- Cooling Tower & Pump Room Layout
- Refrigerant Machine Room Ventilation Design
- Electrical Load Estimation for HVAC Equipment
F. BOQ & Documentation
- HVAC BOQ Preparation
- Quantity Take-Off from HVAC Layout Drawings
- Preparation of Detailed Material Specifications
- Equipment Schedules, Duct Schedules & Pipe Schedules
- Isometric Drawings for Complex Piping & Ductwork
- Cost Estimation Support
- Vendor Technical Comparison & Evaluation Support
- Value Engineering for Cost Optimization
G. Coordination & Compliance
- Coordination with Electrical, Plumbing, Structural & Architectural Teams
- Participation in BIM Coordination Meetings
- Clash Detection Support in Revit MEP
- Compliance with NBC Part 8 (Services)
- Knowledge of ASHRAE 62.1 (Ventilation) & ASHRAE 90.1 (Energy)
- Familiarity with IS 659, IS 3103, and Local Authority Guidelines
- Authority Submission Support (if required)
3. Required Qualifications
- Education: B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
- Experience: 3–8 Years in HVAC / MEP Design Consultancy with exposure to Residential, Commercial, Hospitality, and Institutional Projects. Consultancy background preferred over contractor/site-only profiles.
4. Mandatory Technical Skills
- AutoCAD – Advanced (HVAC Layout Drafting & Detailing)
- Revit MEP – 3D Duct & Pipe Routing and Modeling
- HAP / Carrier E20-II / Trace 700 – Heat Load Calculation Software
- MS Excel – Hydraulic & Psychrometric Calculations, HVAC BOQ Preparation
- Strong knowledge of Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Duct Design Principles
5. Technical Knowledge Requirements
- Candidate must demonstrate hands-on experience in:
- Heat Load Calculation (Room-wise & Block-wise)
- VRF/VRV System Design & Refrigerant Pipe Sizing
- Chilled Water System Design
- AHU / FCU Selection & Air Distribution Design
- Duct Sizing & Static Pressure Calculation
- Ventilation & Pressurization System Design
- HVAC BOQ Preparation
- Pump Head Calculation & Chiller Plant Design
- Cooling Tower Sizing & Condenser Water System
