Interior Designer

Department: Design & Construction

Reports To: Director of Construction / Director of Design

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Status: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Interior Designer is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and execution of renovation and new construction projects across the company's hotel portfolio. This position works closely with internal departments, hotel management, architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with brand standards.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and detail-oriented with experience in hospitality design and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and coordinate interior renovations for guestrooms, suites, lobbies, restaurants, meeting spaces, public areas, and other hotel facilities.
  • Prepare finish boards, design presentations, FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) selections, and material specifications.
  • Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and interior design concepts.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, purchasing teams, hotel management, and vendors throughout all phases of a project.
  • Ensure all projects comply with hotel brand standards (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, etc.) and company design guidelines.
  • Review architectural drawings, construction documents, and shop drawings for design accuracy and compliance.
  • Research and specify finishes, furnishings, lighting, artwork, fabrics, and accessories.
  • Assist with project budgeting and value engineering while maintaining design quality.
  • Conduct property site visits to assess existing conditions, review project progress, and participate in punch walks.
  • Track project schedules, maintain design documentation, and assist with project coordination from concept through completion.
  • Maintain organized project files, finish libraries, and specification documents.
  • Stay current on hospitality design trends, products, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field required.
  • 2–3 years of interior design experience with hotel brands or hospitality projects preferred.
  • Experience working with Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, or other major hotel brands is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of interior finishes, furnishings, space planning, lighting, and commercial design principles.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Technical Skills

Proficiency in:

  • AutoCAD
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • SketchUp, Revit, or other 3D rendering software (preferred)
  • Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF markup software (preferred)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel to hotel properties as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry material samples up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs during property inspections.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NCIDQ certification or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Experience with hotel renovation and capital improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of FF&E procurement and installation processes.
  • Familiarity with ADA accessibility requirements and applicable building codes.
Work Environment

This position is based in the corporate office with periodic travel to hotel properties throughout the company's portfolio. Travel may be required for project meetings, site visits, installations, and brand inspections.
