Hiring: Data Protection Officer (DPO) – Bahrain Banking Sector

Comply Strike is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to support a leading banking-sector client in Bahrain through a DPO Secondment engagement.

This role requires a privacy professional with strong expertise in banking, fintech, digital assets, and regulatory compliance to serve as the statutory DPO and primary liaison with regulators.

Bahrain (Remote/Hybrid based on client requirements)

• Serve as the statutory Data Protection Officer (DPO).
• Act as the primary point of contact with the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA) and the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).
• Develop, maintain, and oversee the Register of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Ensure compliance with Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL - Law No. 30 of 2018).

• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for digital banking platforms, fintech services, and API integrations.
• Assess privacy risks associated with digital asset custody platforms and blockchain-based services.
• Advise business and technology teams on privacy compliance requirements.

• Design and maintain compliant international data transfer frameworks.
• Assess privacy implications of cloud hosting, data residency, and global clearing networks.
• Ensure compliance with applicable cross-border transfer requirements.

• Establish and maintain a Data Breach Response Framework integrated with Information Security teams.
• Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and privacy rights workflows.
• Support privacy awareness initiatives and compliance reporting.

• CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent privacy certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Privacy, Data Protection, or Privacy Compliance.
• Experience within Banking, Fintech, Digital Banking, Payment Services, or Digital Assets.
• Strong understanding of Bahrain PDPL and financial sector regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of cloud-sovereignty requirements and privacy implications of blockchain technologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and regulatory communication skills.

• Prior experience serving as a DPO or Privacy Lead.
• Experience with digital asset custody platforms such as Fireblocks.
• Familiarity with CBB cybersecurity and data protection requirements.
• Experience managing privacy programs across multiple jurisdictions.
