Head / Product Owner – HRMS Platform

Location: Chennai



The Head / Product Owner – HRMS Platform is responsible for the overall ownership, strategy, development, implementation, support, and continuous enhancement of the organization's Human Resource Management System (HRMS) platform. This role serves as the bridge between business, technology, and customers, ensuring the platform delivers high-quality, scalable, and customer-centric HR solutions


The role requires strong leadership in product management, software development, implementation delivery, customer success, and operational support while managing cross-functional teams and multiple projects.


Key Responsibilities


Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the HRMS product vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy.
  • Prioritize product features and enhancements based on customer needs, market trends, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into product features.
  • Manage product backlog and release planning using Agile methodologies.
  • Monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement.


Product Development

  • Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, UI/UX, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver high-quality releases.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security, scalability, and performance best practices.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and incorporating industry best practices.
  • Review technical designs and participate in solution architecture discussions.


Implementation & Delivery

  • Lead successful implementation of HRMS solutions for new and existing customers.
  • Develop implementation methodologies, project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with implementation consultants, partners, and customer teams during deployment.
  • Manage product configuration, customization, integrations, and data migration activities.


Customer Success & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary product representative for strategic customers.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and solution presentations.
  • Understand customer business processes and recommend appropriate HRMS solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with enterprise customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Gather customer feedback and convert insights into product enhancements.
  • Participate in customer steering committee meetings and executive reviews.


Support & Maintenance

  • Own post-implementation support strategy and operational excellence.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer issues while meeting defined SLAs.
  • Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive action plans.
  • Drive product stability, system availability, and platform reliability.
  • Plan and execute regular maintenance releases, patches, upgrades, and performance improvements.


Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Product, Engineering, QA, Support, and Implementation teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and customer-centric culture.
  • Define team goals, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Encourage continuous learning and adoption of best practices.


Project & Program Management

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and product releases.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Track project milestones, budgets, dependencies, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure effective communication among cross-functional teams.
  • Establish governance processes for product delivery and implementation.


Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor regulations, statutory requirements, data privacy, and information security standards.
  • Drive product quality through testing, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support audits, certifications, and compliance activities where applicable.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree or MBA is an advantage.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in software product development, with at least 5 years in leadership or product ownership roles.
  • Experience in HRMS, HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, or Enterprise SaaS platforms is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum product management methodologies.
  • Experience managing enterprise software implementations.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional technical and business teams.

  • HRMS/HCM domain expertise
