Nature Morte, originally founded in New York in 1982, was relaunched in New Delhi in 1997 as a commercial gallery and curatorial experiment. Renowned for championing innovative and conceptual art, the gallery played a pivotal role in bringing international recognition to a generation of Indian artists. Nature Morte has three galleries across India. Today, it serves as a leader in the Indian contemporary art scene, representing both established names and emerging talents, while introducing global artists to India. Managed by co-directors Aparajita Jain and Peter Nagy, the gallery continues to expand its influence locally and internationally.


Role Description


This is a full-time, on-site role located in Delhi for a Head of Archive/Inventory Controller. The responsibilities include overseeing the accurate cataloging and documentation of the gallery’s artwork inventory, ensuring proper storage and preservation of works, and maintaining up-to-date records in the gallery's database. Additional tasks involve managing logistics, handling inventory transfers between locations, assisting with exhibition installations, and coordinating with stakeholders for inventory-related requirements. The role also involves supporting the team in maintaining adherence to best practices for artwork handling and storage.


Qualifications


  • Experience in cataloging, inventory management, and database maintenance
  • Knowledge of proper artwork handling, storage, and preservation practices
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate logistics and inventory with internal and external teams
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and tools
  • Interest or background in fine arts, art history, or museum/gallery operations is advantageous
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a proactive approach
  • Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field is preferred
