Original BP title - META Competitiveness Lead

The Competitiveness Lead plays a critical role in advancing Castrol’s business competitiveness agenda within the GSC. This position supports and coordinates the delivery of GSC’s efficiency and effectiveness commitments through loss identification, idea generation, progress monitoring, and the management of functional, scheduling, and business dependencies across the GSC.

The role focuses on driving specific competitiveness commitments, overseeing implementation, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams within and outside the GSC. A key responsibility includes ensuring all interdependencies are identified and effectively managed within the broader strategic roadmap. The role also supports the Competitiveness Delivery Manager in structuring, developing, and executing robust value creation programs such as OCC and PCC, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The role requires strong collaboration across multiple functions to design, implement, and guide cross-functional competitiveness teams through organizational change initiatives of varying scale and complexity. The individual will apply change management frameworks, tools, and principles to drive financial, operational, and behavioural improvements.

Core Duties

  • Lead multi-disciplinary competitiveness teams across planning, manufacturing, procurement, packaging, logistics, and marketing.
  • Develop and manage competitiveness execution plans, including risk and contingency planning, standard process adherence, and third‑party management.
  • Drive day-to-day change management activities and provide support and coaching to global and regional cross-functional teams, BP JV partners, toll blenders, and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement competitiveness delivery strategies, including complex analyses related to supply chain optimization, tank farm optimization, product sourcing effectiveness, base oil and additive impacts, formulation changes, and compliance.
  • Act as the primary interface across Marketing, Finance, ATP, Supply Chain, and third‑party Toll Blenders regarding system and process changes.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with functional leaders, project sponsors, and stakeholders to embed change management principles effectively.
  • Coordinate loss analysis across procurement, manufacturing, and logistics.
  • Execute approved change programs in line with MoC processes, ensuring full engagement from all key stakeholders.
  • Establish mechanisms to evaluate the impact of adjustments within the supply chain and present insights to leadership.
  • Ensure that all supply chain projects comply with BP’s V&Bs, OMS, HSSE, Quality, and Code of Conduct requirements.
  • Leverage data, insights, and resources to drive priorities and ensure effective implementation of initiatives.
  • Make project-related operational, financial, and people decisions within approved Delegations of Authority.
  • Contribute to and validate supply chain operating model development.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Extensive end-to-end supply chain expertise with a proven record of leading and delivering large-scale, international projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing large and/or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior leaders and key business partners; skilled at influencing diverse stakeholders across multiple sites.
  • Ability to work effectively across different countries and cultures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to anticipate issues, identify improvement opportunities early, and interpret complex numerical data.
  • Experience managing complex project/portfolio environments within large, multi-site organizations, including familiarity with budgeting and financial processes.
  • Proven ability to balance and manage multiple or conflicting priorities, with a solid track record of on-time delivery.
  • Strong understanding of performance management concepts, benchmarking, and key operational metrics.
  • Advanced expertise in identifying, assessing, and managing change risks.
