Brief Description
About the Role:
Zywave, Inc., a leading Insurtech SaaS provider is looking to add a Pune, India based Senior Accountant to its global corporate accounting team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing and improving general ledger accounting, the month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial analysis across multiple entities and currencies. This role ensures compliance with US GAAP, supports tax and audit activities, and drives process improvements, including automation initiates using AI-powered tools.
Key Responsibilities
Commissions Accounting: Partner with HR and Sales Operations to understand commission plans and ensure proper accounting treatment. Manage capitalized commission accounting, including identifying eligible costs, calculating amortization schedules, and maintaining supporting schedules and documentation. Record monthly commissions earned expense and reconcile related balance sheet accounts.
Lease Accounting: Manage end to end lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including classification, initial recognition, and ongoing measurement. Prepare monthly lease journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Fixed Assets: Oversee the fixed asset lifecycle, including capitalization, disposals, transfers, and depreciation. Maintain the fixed asset register and perform monthly reconciliations of fixed asset accounts and depreciation expense.
Prepaid Expenses: Manage the prepaid expense schedule and ensure timely amortization of balances. Review vendor invoices to determine proper prepaid treatment and coding. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for all prepaid accounts. Collaborate with department owners to validate timing and accuracy of prepaid allocations.
Other Tasks: Perform other assigned tasks which may include expense accruals, intercompany variance reconciliations, cash transactions, and other continuous improvement and strategic projects

- Serve as the subject matter expert in technical accounting areas, including but not limited to Commissions, Leases, Fixed Assets, Prepaids, and Intercompany.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations, Legal, HR, and Sales to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation using AI-powered tools and bots.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory accounting guidance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com), specifically in Accounting & Finance (BAF) or USA bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Indian Chartered Accountancy (CA) or USA Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- 3+ years of professional corporate accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close including journal entries preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
- Sage Intacct
- Microsoft Office & Related Tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Power BI)
- Experience with AI and automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot)
