GIS Database Developer

Job Description

Industry & Sector: We operate in the geospatial technology and location-intelligence sector, building spatial databases, mapping platforms and GIS-driven analytics for utilities, telecom, infrastructure and government clients. This on-site role is focused on designing, developing and maintaining enterprise GIS databases and spatial services to support operational workflows and location-based decisioning. Standardized Title: GIS Database Developer Role & Responsibilities Design, build and maintain enterprise spatial databases and schemas using PostGIS/PostgreSQL to support mapping, routing and asset-management workflows. Develop and optimize spatial SQL, stored procedures and performance tuning to ensure fast spatial queries and tile generation for web and desktop clients. Implement ETL and spatial data pipelines using FME, Python and GDAL to ingest, validate and transform multi-source GIS datasets. Configure and manage GIS server components (ArcGIS Server / GeoServer), publish map services, and automate service deployment and versioning. Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers and stakeholders to translate geospatial requirements into scalable database designs and APIs. Create documentation, data models and backup/restore procedures; implement data quality rules and spatial integrity checks. Skills & Qualifications Must-Have ArcGIS ArcGIS Server ArcGIS Pro PostGIS PostgreSQL SQL Python FME Preferred AWS Docker GDAL Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience building and managing enterprise GIS/spatial databases (on-site in India). Strong experience with spatial data modeling, topology rules and coordinate reference systems (CRS). Experience publishing GIS services and integrating with web mapping frameworks and APIs.
