Job Description

Role Summary

Seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Manager for a major underground road tunnel project involving C&C sections, launching/receiving shafts, NATM tunnels, and bored tunnel works. The role includes site geotechnical supervision, design coordination, and client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee geotechnical activities for Cut & Cover (C&C) structures, including:

Temporary retaining walls (diaphragm walls, secant piles, sheet piles)
Excavation staging and bracing systems
Dewatering systems and groundwater control
Supervise construction of launching and receiving shafts:
Ground improvement as required (jet grouting, micro piles, grouting)
Monitoring of shaft excavation, groundwater conditions, and strata behaviour
Validate method statements, excavation sequences, and temporary support designs based on actual ground conditions.

Candidate should have prior experience in similar Under Ground metro / road tunnel projects
Coordination with design consultants, construction team , PMC and client teams.
Geotechnical supervision for Investigation Cut & Cover, shaft construction, and tunnel excavation.
NATM activities: Ground classification (RMR/Q/GSI), support recommendations as per approved design
Support to bored tunnel/TBM works : Ground behaviour, settlement control, risk assessment.
Coordination with design consultants, construction team , PMC and client teams.
Review of design documents: DBR, support systems, FEM models (PLAXIS /RS2).

Skills & Experience

Strong background in tunnelling and underground works (C&C, shafts, NATM, TBM).
Proficiency in interpreting bore logs, lab data, and geological profiles.
Knowledge of IS/IRC/MoRTH standards; exposure to international tunnel codes preferred.
Software advantage: PLAXIS, , RS2, WALLAP, GeoStudio.
Excellent communication and client-handling abilities.
