Job Summary:
The Head – Strategy (Emerging Markets) will be responsible for defining and driving the long term strategic roadmap for the Emerging Markets pharma business. The role will focus on identifying region wise growth opportunities, closing capability gaps, and ensuring effective execution of critical strategic initiatives and launches across markets. The incumbent will work closely with regional, country, and cross functional teams to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Roadmap
- Develop and own the long‑term strategic roadmap for Emerging Markets, identifying region‑ and country‑specific growth opportunities (organic & In-organic).
- Evaluate commercial capability gaps and recommend initiatives to build sustainable competitive advantage across field force operations.
- Assess the end‑to‑end pharma value chain to identify opportunities, gaps, and levers to enhance customer experience.
Strategic Project Execution
- Identify and drive execution of key strategic projects across critical Emerging Markets, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives.
- Establish robust tracking frameworks to monitor progress, identify risks, and recommend course corrections in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Lead strategic initiatives from early‑stage concept through execution, ensuring alignment with regional and organizational priorities.
Market & Portfolio Strategy
- Support Portfolio and country teams in strategic market analysis, competitive intelligence, and assessment of key market dynamics.
- Partner with marketing teams to define go‑to‑market strategies for priority markets and products.
- Measure New product launch effectiveness
Analytics & Insights
- Drive development and implementation of advanced analytics platforms to monitor portfolio and launch performance.
- Leverage metrics such as launch timelines, sales performance, and execution KPIs to enable data‑driven decision‑making and continuous optimization.
Stakeholder & Field Engagement
- Work closely with regional and country leadership teams to guide strategic direction and execution.
Relevant Skills & Experience:
- ~ 15 years of overall experience, with at least 5 years in international / emerging markets pharma marketing, P&L or strategy roles
- Demonstrated exposure to key Emerging Markets such as Brazil, Mexico, APAC, and South Africa.
- Preferred experience in therapy areas such as CVS, CNS, Oncology, Biosimilars.
- Proven track record in strategy formulation and execution at a similar level and scale.
- Consulting experience is preferable

- Excellent business acumen with a commercial mindset
- Ability to influence and engage senior internal and external stakeholders
- Credible, confident communicator with strong presentation skills
- Hands on, high energy, and execution oriented approach
- Comfortable working across geographies and time zones
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
