Role Description The General Doctor will provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients at Sevalaya’s facility in Chengalpattu. This full-time, on-site role includes conducting outpatient consultations, performing physical examinations, diagnosing common medical conditions, prescribing appropriate treatments, and maintaining accurate medical records. The doctor will oversee follow-up care, manage minor emergencies, and coordinate with specialists or referral centers when required. Daily responsibilities also include promoting preventive healthcare, participating in health camps or outreach programs, supporting health education initiatives, and collaborating with the healthcare and administrative teams to ensure quality, compassionate care for all patients.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution and valid registration with the relevant medical council.
  • Clinical skills in general medicine, including patient examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of common acute and chronic conditions.
  • Ability to provide preventive and community-oriented healthcare, including health education, vaccination guidance, and participation in outreach activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, including proficiency in documenting medical information clearly and accurately.
  • Demonstrated ethical practice, compassion, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to serving underserved communities in a charitable, mission-driven setting.
  • Experience in primary care, rural or community health settings is an advantage; familiarity with local languages will be beneficial.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to resource-limited environments while maintaining professional standards of care.
