About Company

DNEG is a global leader in visual effects, animation, and creative technology, now expanding into game development with a new Mumbai-based studio. The team is building an original Unreal Engine 5.5 MMO/action RPG where cutting-edge gameplay systems, multiplayer architecture, AI, and live-service technology will power a world-class player experience.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the gameplay engineering team while serving as the technical authority for Unreal Engine 5.5, C++, gameplay systems, architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Design and build scalable gameplay architecture supporting combat systems, player progression, AI, networking, online services, live operations, monetization, and future game expansion.
  • Mentor engineers through technical planning, architecture reviews, code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Translate gameplay and design requirements into robust technical solutions while balancing scalability, maintainability, performance, delivery timelines, and engineering quality.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, technical artists, producers, QA, and studio leadership to deliver high-quality gameplay features and technical systems.
  • Drive engineering standards across gameplay programming, Unreal Engine development, optimization, multiplayer systems, tools, and production workflows.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years of professional game programming experience with deep expertise in Unreal Engine and modern C++ development.
  • Proven experience shipping at least one commercial 3D game for PC, console, or equivalent public gaming platform, preferably in a senior or technical leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine systems including Gameplay Ability System (GAS), AI, rendering, networking, multiplayer architecture, Epic Online Services, and live-service technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineers, conducting code reviews, mentoring teams, driving technical architecture, and collaborating across multidisciplinary game development teams.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, optimization, debugging, gameplay systems, technical trade-offs, and scalable engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills within fast-paced game development environments.
