The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining products and/or systems to enable Sage’s business plans and long-term objectives using the identified architecture.

***This is a hybrid role – three days per week in our Manchester office***

Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance APIs and backend services using C#, .NET.

Collaborate with global teams across Sage, to define, design, deliver and maintain services across the Accountants Business Unit.
Work cross-functionally with various Sage teams: Product management, QA/XD, various product lines and business units to deliver for our customers.
Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
Utilize AWS services to build, deploy, and manage applications.
Experiment with new technologies and methodologies to improve our development processes and product offerings.
Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
Maintain relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development lifecycle.
Be an active and enthusiastic team player. Partner effectively with all team members to deliver against commitments.

What we're looking for:

Extensive experience in software development with a focus on C#, .NET
Some experience of REACT development desirable
5+ years of experience in a similar role
Experienced in building and consuming APIs and backend services.
Knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, Document DB etc.)
Proven experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, and/or Extreme Programming methodologies
Experience with relational databases would be beneficial (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
Experience with version control in Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
