Freelance Portfolio Grants Consultant

Our Client, An American Private Foundation, is looking to engage with a consultant who can deliver the following key responsibilities:

• An experienced grant maker with at least 10 years of working in a direct grant making role in India - this is essential that grantee partners are leading non-profit organizations in India and appreciate a thought partner on their funders teams.
• Oversee current portfolio of grants by ensuring that monthly/bi-monthly check-in sessions are held with requisite agendas & preparatory work
• Support the team on new grant development (including proposal and budgets)
• Onboard new grantee partners and support their teams in planning and preparing their work plan and milestones.
• Develop and design learning sessions (online) for cohorts of grantees working in similar geographies and thematic areas.
• Ensure high level of responsiveness and resolution of grantee requests with relevant functions & teams

Skills Required

• Experience in rural development, local governance, women’s collectives, partnerships on MGNREGS/NRLM would be ideal
• Strong grant and program management skills to oversee multiple projects and ensure timely delivery
• Ability to manage stakeholders effectively, especially NGOs, donors, and internal teams
• Proficiency in proposal evaluation and budgeting for grant development
• Good analytical skills to track impact, monitor performance, and identify risks
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for reporting and leading discussions
• Understanding of compliance, fund utilization, and social impact domains like rural development or governance
