Freelance Java Developer – Spring Framework & Apache Struts

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Java Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and Apache Struts to support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise web applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE.
  • Work on applications built with Apache Struts 1 or Struts 2.
  • Develop and enhance Struts Action classes, forms, interceptors, and configuration files.
  • Build and maintain backend components using Spring Framework or Spring Boot.
  • Develop and integrate REST and SOAP web services.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, defects, performance problems, and application failures.
  • Work with JSP, Servlets, Hibernate/JPA, JDBC, and relational databases.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, technical design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Support modernization or migration of legacy Struts applications to Spring MVC or Spring Boot.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and other developers.
  • Prepare technical documentation and participate in code reviews.

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong experience in Core Java and Java/J2EE.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Struts 1 or Struts 2.
  • Experience with:
  • Struts Action classes
  • ActionForm or ActionSupport
  • struts-config.xml or struts.xml
  • Interceptors, ValueStack, or OGNL
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring MVC, or Spring Boot.
  • Experience with JSP, Servlets, Hibernate/JPA, and JDBC.
  • Experience developing RESTful or SOAP web services.
  • Strong SQL knowledge with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
  • Experience with Maven or Gradle.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, and Agile delivery.
  • Strong debugging and production-support skills.

Good to Have

  • Experience migrating applications from Struts to Spring Boot.
  • Knowledge of Spring Security.
  • Experience with Tomcat, WebLogic, or WebSphere.
  • Exposure to microservices and cloud platforms.
  • Experience in banking, insurance, telecom, retail, or other enterprise domains.
