Job Description

The Loads and Aeroelasticity Engineer is responsible for the analysis and substantiation of aircraft structural loads and aeroelastic behavior to ensure safety, performance, and certification compliance. The role supports aircraft design, development, and continued airworthiness by generating and validating design loads, assessing flutter and dynamic stability, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Aircraft Loads Analysis

  • Develop static and dynamic aircraft loads for structures, control surfaces, landing gear interfaces, and systems.
  • Generate internal and external loads for use in structural sizing and stress analysis.
  • Analyze maneuver, gust, ground, taxi, braking, and landing loads.
  • Support definition of design limit and ultimate loads.

Aeroelasticity & Dynamics

  • Perform flutter, divergence, control reversal, and dynamic stability analyses.
  • Conduct modal analysis and support ground vibration testing (GVT) correlation.
  • Assess aero-servo-elastic interactions with flight control systems.
  • Support flutter clearance and flight test activities.

Certification & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with EASA / FAA airworthiness requirements (e.g., CS-25, FAR-25, CS-23, CS-27/29).
  • Produce loads and aeroelastic substantiation reports for certification.
  • Support authority reviews, audits, and technical discussions.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Interface with Stress, Structures, Flight Physics, Performance, and Flight Test teams.
  • Provide loads data to support structural sizing, fatigue, and damage tolerance analyses.
  • Support design trade studies and weight optimization initiatives.

In-Service & Change Support

  • Assess loads and aeroelastic impacts of design changes, repairs, and modifications.
  • Support continued airworthiness investigations related to structural or dynamic issues.
  • Update loads documentation based on fleet or test data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in aircraft loads and/or aeroelasticity analysis.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft dynamics, aerodynamics, and structural mechanics.
  • Ability to interpret certification requirements and translate them into analysis activities.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with commercial transport, business jets, military aircraft, or rotorcraft.
  • Familiarity with aeroelastic analysis tools (e.g., NASTRAN, ZAERO, MSC FlightLoads, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting GVT, flutter testing, and certification programs.
  • Knowledge of composite structures and lightweight designs.

Desired Skills

  • Strong analytical and numerical problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and structured engineering approach
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Clear technical documentation and communication skills
  • Safety- and certification-focused mindset
