Finance Data Engineer - R2R Data and Automation Team

Summary
The Finance Data Engineer is a technical expert who creates data interfaces, pipelines and codebase that drives innovative data products for Apple Finance's Record to Report organization. They build reliable, accurate, consistent, and architecturally sound solutions that are aligned with business needs.

This role requires working cross-functionally with business users in the R2R organization, IS&T, data scientists and other engineers to develop and deploy data services and pipelines. This position involves close collaboration with business teams requesting solutions related to accounting processes and workflows. An ability to acquire deep knowledge of Finance business processes, particularly in the Record to Report domain, is essential.

Description
You will be working in an enterprise data warehouse and lakehouse environments, primarily using Dataiku as the core platform, to help identify and combine data in an efficient, scalable manner to help answer business questions and support accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with business teams in R2R to understand their accounting solution requirements and translate them into technical data solutions
• Partner with data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, and business stakeholders to identify, capture, collect, load and format data from external sources, internal systems and the data warehouse
• Develop, test, deploy, monitor, document and troubleshoot data pipelines and interfaces, primarily within Dataiku
• Build and maintain data workflows that support accounting processes and financial reporting requirements
• Collaborate with other engineers to define and adopt best practices for data and machine learning engineering
• Identify and review capabilities of emerging technologies and enable the adoption of these new technologies and associated techniques
• Serve as a technical liaison between the R2R business teams and the technical implementation of data solutions
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Effective Python, shell and SQL programmer
• Experience with Dataiku or similar data workflow platforms (Dataiku strongly preferred)
• Hands on experience with database design and architecture in cloud data warehouses (Snowflake) and lakehouse environments (S3)
• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with non-technical business stakeholders to understand accounting and finance requirements
• Ability to implement end to end encryption and decryption policies as part of sensitive data pipelines and semantic views or other data sources
• Experience with the data development lifecycle and its associated CI/CD and version control components and tooling (Git, Other)

• Understanding of accounting processes and the Record to Report cycle is a plus
