Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and month-end/year-end closing.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, MIS reports, and management dashboards.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis.
- Monitor accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple business entities.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax, and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit tax returns while coordinating with tax authorities.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure organizational compliance.
- Maintain statutory records and ensure timely regulatory filings.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and resolve audit observations.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards.
- Strengthen governance, financial controls, and compliance processes.
- Oversee payroll processing for local and expatriate employees.
- Manage employee reimbursements, advances, and financial records.
- Ensure statutory deductions and payroll compliance.
- Develop and implement robust financial controls.
- Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Improve accounting procedures and standardize finance processes across entities.
- Drive automation and efficiency initiatives within the finance department.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Monitor team performance and ensure high-quality financial operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Mandatory
- CA, ACCA, or CPA qualification (Mandatory).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, taxation, and financial compliance.
- Strong experience with Tally Prime or similar ERP/accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including financial modelling, Pivot Tables, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience working in Uganda or other East African countries.
- Knowledge of Ugandan taxation, URA regulations, and NSSF compliance.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, engineering, or real estate sectors.
- Exposure to multi-company accounting and expatriate payroll management.
