Job Description – Accounts & Finance Intern (Support Role)

Position: Accounts Intern

Department: Accounts & Finance

Reporting To: Associate Accountant

Location: Gurgaon

Duration: 3–6 months (with potential for full-time based on performance)

Role Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Intern to support the daily operations of the Accounts & Finance department. This is a support-driven role designed for candidates who have basic accounting knowledge and a strong willingness to learn.

The intern will assist with routine accounting tasks, reconciliations, documentation, and financial data analysis. Someone with an interest in financial analysis and comfort with Excel and basic accounting tools will be a great fit.

Key Responsibilities1. Accounting Support

Assist in recording day-to-day accounting transactions under supervision.

Help prepare and organise invoices, receipts, vendor documents, and accounting files.

Support basic reconciliations (bank, vendor, customer).

Maintain data accuracy and follow internal documentation processes.

  • Financial Analysis Support

Assist in preparing simple financial summaries, trend reports, and comparisons.

Help analyse cost patterns, variances, and performance metrics.

Support the preparation of monthly MIS reports with direction from the senior accountant.

  • Compliance & Reporting Assistance

Assist with GST/TDS data preparation and basic workings.

Help in creating schedules and supporting documents for statutory requirements.

Ensure timely updates and follow-ups on tasks assigned.

  • Excel & Accounting Tool Support

Use Excel for data entry, basic calculations, and report formatting.

Update spreadsheets involving functions like SUM, IF, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.

Learn and use accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, or Xero (training will be provided if required).

  • Departmental Coordination

Work closely with the Senior Accountant to complete tasks on time.

Provide general administrative and operational support for finance activities.

Take initiative, stay organised, and communicate clearly.

Skills & Competencies Required

Basic understanding of accounting concepts (Journal entries, ledgers, debit/credit).

Strong interest in financial analysis and working with numbers.

Good hands-on knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, basic functions).

Familiarity with accounting software (Tally/Zoho/Xero) is a plus but not mandatory.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take responsibility.

Good communication and time-management skills.

Education

B.Com / M.Com / BBA / MBA (Finance) or a related field

Freshers or final-year students are welcome
