ETL Platform Engineer

We are seeking a talented and experienced ETL Engineer to join our Technology team. This is a technical role focused on Platform Engineer role responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing the Ab Initio - Enterprise ETL Platform in a Linux environment. This position focuses on platform operations, performance optimization, version management, and providing technical support to application teams running ETL jobs on the platform.

What You’ll Do

• Platform Administration & Maintenance:
• Install and configure Ab-initio Software components in Linux Environments
• Administer and maintain the Ab-Initio platform infrastructure in Linux environments
• Perform platform version upgrades and patch management with minimal downtime
• Execute Co>Op upgrades and ensure platform stability post-upgrade
• Configure and manage dbc/ini files for integration with various source systems and target databases
• Manage platform configuration, security, and access controls
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and automate operational procedures
  
  
  

ETL Job Support & Monitoring:

• Monitor ETL job execution and platform performance in real-time
• Provide technical support to application teams for ETL job processing and troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues impacting ETL job execution
  
  
  

Code Promotion & Deployment:

• Manage code promotion activities across development, testing, and production environments
• Coordinate with application teams on deployment schedules and requirements
• Validate code deployments and ensure platform stability post-promotion
• Maintain deployment documentation and change logs
• Support rollback procedures if needed
  
  
  

Monitoring, Performance Optimization & Tuning:

• Monitor platform performance metrics and identify optimization opportunities
• Analyze ETL job performance and recommend tuning strategies
• Implement performance improvements and validate results
• Optimize resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk I/O) across the platform
• Conduct capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements
  
  
  

Integration & Connectivity:

• Configure and maintain connectivity with various source systems and target databases
• Set up and manage database connections and integration parameters
• Support data ingestion from multiple sources and Data platforms
• Troubleshoot connectivity and data flow issues
  
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with ETL/data integration tools; preferably with Ab Initio
• 3+ years of Ab Initio platform administration and operational support experience
• Strong understanding of Ab Initio architecture, components, and configuration
• Proficiency in Ab Initio platform administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Ab Initio version upgrades and Co-Op upgrades
• Experience supporting ETL job execution and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and command-line operations
• Shell scripting expertise
• Familiarity with system monitoring and performance analysis tools
  
  
  

Preferred Qualification

• Strong knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, various data management systems and integrating with various database technologies like UDB, IBM Netezza & PDOA appliances or Microsoft SQL server is required
• Development experience with ETL/data integration tools; preferably with Ab Initio.
• Knowledge of Big Data ingestion techniques/tools & integrating with NoSQL databases is a plus
• Knowledge of Ab Initio metadata management and repository administration
• Experience with Ab Initio parallel processing and optimization techniques
