ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Engineer, Site Reliability – PMT Operations is a cross-platform SRE role responsible for the operational reliability and continuous improvement of T-Mobile's PMT application portfolio. This portfolio spans 155 active applications across four product areas: HR (Workday, UKG Pro WFM, Equifax, Fidelity, Fieldglass, Learning), Brand & Communications, Workforce Experience, and Corporate Security - supporting roughly 90,000 T-Mobile employees.

This is a blended role. You will work across HR platforms, workforce management systems, and platform/DevOps tooling - not a single-system specialist. You are expected to triage incidents across the full portfolio, build automation that works across multiple platforms, and develop deep expertise in at least one area while maintaining operational breadth in the others.

This is not a traditional application support role. You will apply SRE principles and software engineering skill to reduce toil, build AI-powered automation, and improve the reliability of systems T-Mobile's workforce depends on every day. The long-term path for this role is full-stack development as T-Mobile evolves its platforms from SaaS to custom-built software.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Monitor, triage, and resolve incidents across the PMT application portfolio; own resolution from detection through post-incident review.
  • Build and maintain runbooks for all supported applications; identify gaps and drive documentation completeness.
  • Design and implement monitoring and alerting for application health, SLA compliance, and integration failure detection.
  • Develop automation - including AI agents - to eliminate recurring manual tasks, reduce MTTR, and handle triage, escalation, and runbook execution without human touch.
  • Perform integration triage across HR system interfaces (Workday, downstream payroll and benefits platforms, UKG, identity systems) and platform/DevOps infrastructure.
  • Manage SaaS application configurations, user provisioning, and access governance workflows.
  • Partner with the Sr Engineer, Systems Reliability on complex incidents and mentorship of technical practices.
  • Partner with US-based Domain Architects on architecture decisions and with Software Developers (DevOps) on escalated incidents and platform tooling.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotation for the PMT portfolio (IST shift).
  • Contribute to the team's long-term platform engineering roadmap as T-Mobile moves from SaaS to custom-built solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 3–6 years of experience in SRE, software engineering, or technical operations - with a software development foundation.
  • Experience across multiple enterprise SaaS or platform domains - you are comfortable switching contexts between different systems and technology stacks.
  • Demonstrated ability to write code for automation, tooling, or integration - not just run scripts others wrote.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across multi-system integration failures.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON/XML data formats, and integration monitoring.
  • Excellent written communication skills for runbook authoring and incident documentation.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate engineering work - writing automation, building AI agents for incident triage and runbook execution, and generating and maintaining documentation.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • AI & agent tooling: Proficient in at least one AI coding/automation assistant (Claude, Copilot, or equivalent). Able to build and maintain AI agents for operational workflows - incident triage, alert response, runbook execution, escalation routing, and documentation generation. Views AI tooling as a core productivity multiplier, not an optional add-on.
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and tooling development.
  • Experience with REST API testing and integration debugging (Postman, curl, or similar).
  • SQL proficiency for data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of at least one monitoring/observability platform (Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ticketing and ITSM workflows (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Version control proficiency (Git).
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) at an operational level.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Hands-on experience with Workday (HCM, Payroll, or Integrations modules) or UKG Pro WFM (configuration, integrations, or operations).
  • Experience with Dell Boomi or similar iPaaS integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Backend development experience (Python, Java, or Node.js microservices).
  • Familiarity with identity and access management workflows (SSO, SAML, SCIM).
