Electronics & Hardware Design Engineer
Cradlewise
Job Description
About Cradlewise
Cradlewise is a baby tech startup based out of San Francisco, Bangalore, and Pune. We build smart baby products.
Our first product is a smart crib for babies from 0 to 24 months. It comes with an integrated baby monitor that senses early signs of wake-up, learns from the baby's sleep patterns, and starts rocking with music to soothe the baby back to sleep, just like a parent would.
We are all about sensing, learning, and improving outcomes for babies and parents. We design our electronics in Bangalore and manufacture in-house in Pune, so the boards you design will be built a short flight away and shipped to thousands of families across the US.

About the role
We're looking for an Electronics & Hardware Design Engineer to join our hardware engineering team. You'll own electronic hardware from concept through mass production: architecture, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, validation, and production support. You'll work closely with firmware, mechanical, RF, EMC, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
This role is ideal for engineers who love hands-on hardware development and want complete ownership of what they build.
What you'll own
- End-to-end hardware development: architecture, schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout guidance, prototyping, bring-up, validation, and production support
- Design of power management circuits, microcontroller-based systems, and communication interfaces
- Reliable, manufacturable, cost-optimized PCB designs that account for signal integrity, thermal performance, EMI/EMC, DFM, and DFT
- Board bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis using standard lab equipment
- Manufacturing support: prototype builds, NPI, production test development, supplier interactions, and field failure analysis
- Design reviews and engineering documentation, including calculations, test reports, and validation results
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Electronics & Communication Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of experience in electronics hardware design and product development
- Strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design
- Hands-on schematic capture and PCB design experience with Altium Designer or Cadence
- At least one product taken from prototype through validation into manufacturing
- Strong debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies
- Experience with embedded hardware and common interfaces: SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, JTAG, or SDIO
- Solid understanding of PCB stack-up, signal integrity, thermal design, EMI/EMC, DFM, and DFT
- Power supply design experience: buck, boost, LDO, flyback, or other DC-DC topologies
Nice to have
- ARM-based processors, PMICs, or high-speed memory interfaces (DDR/LPDDR)
- Wireless technologies: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, GNSS, or RF systems
- MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW for validation and test automation
- EMI/EMC compliance standards (FCC, CE, UL)
- Background in robotics, consumer electronics, automotive/EV, IoT, energy, or medical devices
- Rigid-flex or flexible PCB design
What makes you successful here
- Ownership mindset: you can independently drive a hardware project from idea to production
- Sharp debugging instincts and a bias for getting into the lab
- Ability to balance performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost
- Clear communication across functions, and comfort in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment
What we offer
- The chance to design hardware that ships in real products used by thousands of families
- Autonomy to ideate, experiment, and execute your own design decisions
- Close collaboration and mentorship within a senior, cross-functional engineering team
- A fun, inclusive, learning-oriented culture with regular reviews to accelerate your growth
- Competitive salary
