Role Overview

The Electric Motor Design Engineer will be responsible for the electrical design, simulation, and development of electric motors used in EV powertrain applications. The role involves working on advanced electromagnetic design, thermal analysis, and prototype development for various motor types including PMSM, BLDC, SRM, Induction, and PMDC motors.The candidate will work closely with engineering teams to design high-performance electric machines, optimize motor efficiency, and support product development through simulation, testing, and validation processes.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electric motors for EV and specialized applications.
Perform electromagnetic simulations and electrical design using tools such as Ansys Motor-CAD, Maxwell 2D/3D, and SPEED software.
Develop improved motor designs using advanced materials and optimized design algorithms.
Conduct thermal analysis and implement effective cooling techniques for motor performance optimization.
Design and develop PMSM, BLDC, SRM, Induction, and PMDC motors for EV applications.
Support prototype development including motor winding concepts and design guidance.
Conduct testing and validation of electric machines as per industry standards.
Analyze global technology trends and implement new technologies and regulatory requirements.
Perform benchmarking and develop ideas to improve motor performance, quality, cost, and weight.
Troubleshoot and solve electrical design challenges during product development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and testing.

Must-Have Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
7–10 years of experience in electric motor design and development.
Minimum 4 years of design experience in the electric motor industry.
Strong experience in electric machine design and EV drivetrain systems.
Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys Motor-CAD, Maxwell 2D/3D, or SPEED software.
Strong domain knowledge of PMSM, BLDC, SRM, and Induction motor design.
Experience developing motors for 2W and 3W electric vehicle applications.
Good understanding of winding techniques, magnetic materials, and motor assembly.
Knowledge of control strategies used for BLDC and PMSM motors.
Working knowledge of NEMA and IEC motor standards for single-phase and three-phase motors.
Passion for electric mobility and electric machine technology.
Willingness to travel based on business needs.
