DVA Engineer

Scope of Role

DVA, Tolerance stackup

Area of Responsibility

  • Lead and perform dimensional variation analysis using 3DCS (v7.8) tools.
  • Develop and implement strategies to control and reduce dimensional variation in products and processes.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify potential sources of variation and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of analysis results, methodologies, and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for dimensional variation issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Support the development and validation of measurement systems and inspection processes.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on dimensional tolerances and specifications.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in dimensional analysis techniques and tools.

Knowledge / Experience – 6 to 9 Years

Essential:

  • Strong hands-on experience in Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) and tolerance stack‑up analysis for complex assemblies.
  • Proficient in 3DCS v7.8 for Monte Carlo simulation, RSS, and worst‑case dimensional analysis.
  • GD&T expert with advanced application of ASME Y14.5 standards for functional and producible designs.
  • Skilled in 2D and 3D dimensional analysis using drawings and CAD-based models.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5 for model interpretation, assembly analysis, and design evaluation.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on dimensional variation.
  • Experienced in developing variation reduction strategies through tolerance optimization and process improvements.
  • Strong capability in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for dimensional issues.
  • Knowledgeable in measurement systems, CMM inspection planning, and MSA concepts.
  • Effective contributor to design reviews, providing guidance on datums, tolerances, and dimensional risks.
  • Demonstrates a strong collaborative mindset across design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance in DVA methodologies.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to handle multiple analyses within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills for presenting analysis results clearly.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
