Job Description

We are hiring Director of Software Engineering for a decade old US based software consulting client @ Ahmedabad who have employee strength of more than 175+ people across USA, Mexico & India.

Job Title: Director of Software Engineering

Job Location: Ahmedabad ( 100% onsite)

Who can apply?: If you're a director or engineering manager having at least 3+ years of leadership exp and have solid technology background in Node.js, next.js, AWS ( Very strong )

The Role

This individual will oversee a growing team of 25–30+ engineers across multiple technical domains and will be accountable for ensuring the successful, high-quality delivery of projects for US-based clients. The ideal candidate is a technology delivery leader with strong experience managing cross-functional teams, coordinating across time zones, and driving process excellence within a consulting or client-services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Leadership – Own the end-to-end delivery of multiple client projects, ensuring timelines, quality, and scope alignment.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication – Act as the point of coordination between the India team and US-based clients, account managers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Team Management – Mentor and manage engineering, QA, project management, and DevOps teams; foster a high-performance culture.
  • Project Governance – Oversee sprint planning, scrum ceremonies, and delivery reporting; maintain project documentation.
  • Resource Planning – Manage team capacity, project staffing, and skills alignment across multiple engagements.
  • Operational Excellence – Define and implement delivery best practices, KPIs, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Talent Development – Lead recruitment, onboarding, and upskilling efforts to scale the delivery organization.
  • Cross-Time-Zone Collaboration: Ensure consistent overlap and effective communication with US teams and clients. Requires availability during evening hours (approximately 2–3 hours from home, until around 11:30 PM IST) based on project needs.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 12 to 15+ years of experience in technology delivery (Node.js / Javascript), with 3+ years in a senior leadership or engineering management role.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong interviewing and candidate evaluation skills
  • Hands-on strong technical experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and AWS
  • Role requires balanced focus - 50% People Management and 50% Technical Leadership
  • Proven success managing distributed or global teams, ideally in a consulting or services model.
  • Expertise in agile delivery, project tracking, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software development, cloud, or data engineering environments (preferred).
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with US-based clients and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
