The AI Engineering and Enablement organization leads the delivery of OpenText’s AI-powered products and solutions, transforming AI strategy into scalable, production-grade capabilities. We work across global teams to build secure, reliable, and high-impact AI products that serve enterprise customers across industries.

This organization partners closely with product, architecture, and platform teams to ensure AI solutions are delivered with quality, consistency, and speed across cloud and hybrid environments.

The Opportunity

As Director of AI Engineering, based in Hyderabad, India, you will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for building and operating AI-powered products and services. This role focuses on execution excellence, people leadership, and scaling delivery across geographically distributed teams in India.

You will manage full-stack development teams working on AI-enabled applications, agentic solutions, and supporting platforms. You will act as an enabler for teams, driving strong engineering practices, encouraging the practical use of AI in development workflows, and ensuring alignment with global product and architecture direction.

This role requires an experienced engineering leader who is comfortable managing complexity, leading across locations, and delivering high-quality AI products at enterprise scale.

You Are Great At

• Leading multiple AI-focused engineering teams delivering production-grade AI products.
• Managing full-stack development, spanning backend services, AI integration, and user-facing applications.
• Enabling teams through clear priorities, strong execution discipline, and hands-on leadership.
• Leading teams across multiple locations in India, with effective cross-geo collaboration.
• Driving adoption of AI across engineering workflows, tooling, and development practices.
• Partnering closely with product management, architecture, and global stakeholders.
• Building a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
  
  

Technology Stack & Environment

• Experience with many of the following is expected; depth in all areas is not required.
• Languages & Frameworks: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, modern backend and web frameworks
• AI & Data: LLMs, RAG pipelines, agent-based systems, vector databases, model integration and evaluation
• Cloud & Platforms: Kubernetes, Docker, public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), hybrid and private cloud deployments
• Architecture: Microservices, event-driven systems, REST and async APIs
• DevOps & Quality: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, monitoring, and reliability practices
• AI Tooling: Familiarity with modern AI development tools and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, model orchestration patterns)
  
  

What It Takes

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading teams building AI-powered or data-driven products.
• Strong background in full-stack engineering and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience managing distributed engineering teams across multiple locations in India.
• Solid understanding of AI concepts and how to operationalize them in real products.
• Ability to balance delivery, people development, and cross-team alignment.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with global stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
