Job Title: Design Engineer / Draftsman – Fire Fighting Systems
Location: Pune
Department: Fire Protection & Safety Systems
Experience: 4–6 years (Fire Fighting / MEP industry preferred)
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineer or relevant field
Job Summary:
The Design Engineer / Draftsman will be responsible for preparing detailed designs, drawings, and layouts for fire fighting systems, ensuring compliance with national and international codes, standards, and project requirements. The role involves coordination with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure smooth execution of design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop AutoCAD drawings for fire fighting systems such as hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, hose reel systems, and pump rooms.
- Design fire protection layouts, isometric drawings, and schematic diagrams based on project specifications and NFPA/IS standards.
- Calculate hydraulic parameters (pressure, flow, head loss, pump capacity, etc.) using design software or manual methods.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and material take-offs for fire fighting equipment and piping.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project/site teams for design clarifications and approvals.
- Assist project engineers in as-built drawings, revisions, and record documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes such as NFPA, NBC, IS 15105, IS 13039, IS 15325, etc.
- Support the tendering and estimation team by providing design inputs and technical support.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify design implementation or collect field data.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & basic 3D preferred).
- Knowledge of fire protection standards and codes (NFPA, NBC, IS).
- Basic understanding of MEP coordination and building layouts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Software Knowledge:
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Revit MEP / Navisworks (added advantage)
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Hydraulic calculation tools (if applicable)
