Job Title:?Database Engineer Location:?Baner, Pune, Maharashtra (On-site) Job Type:?Full-time Schedule:?Monday to Friday (US Shift) Weekend Availability:?As required Position Overview We are looking for an experienced?Database Engineer?to manage, maintain, and optimise our?Microsoft SQL Server?databases. The ideal candidate will ensure database performance, reliability, and security while supporting both development and production systems. Key Responsibilities Database Management Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances. Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) processes. Monitor system health, performance, and storage utilisation. Implement best practices for database performance, availability, and security. Handle database exports, imports, migrations, and version upgrades. Manage SQL Server patches, service packs, and configurations. Configure user access, permissions, and audit database security. Database Monitoring & Maintenance Validate daily backups and conduct regular restore tests. Monitor SQL Server Agent jobs and resolve any failures promptly. Review error logs, database growth, and disk space utilization. Perform health checks for CPU, memory, I/O, and query performance. Rebuild indexes, update statistics, and perform consistency checks. Remove inactive logins and enforce password and access policies. Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize slow queries. Ensure cleanup jobs (logs, temp tables, history, backups) are functioning properly. Generate and maintain regular health and performance reports. Development & Collaboration Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and database structures. Create and maintain tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers. Support deployment activities and version management. Recommend improvements following SQL Server best practices. Cloud Database Management Manage and optimize? Azure SQL ?and cloud-based database systems. Handle migrations, performance tuning, and security in cloud environments. Qualifications Education: ?Master?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Preferred). Experience: 4?4.5 years of experience as a Database Administrator. 4?4.5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or above). Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, performance tuning, and database migration. Exposure to?Azure SQL?is an advantage. Technical Skills Databases: ?Microsoft SQL Server Tools: ?SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor Core Expertise: ?Installation & configuration, backup & recovery, query optimisation, HA/DR, and security management Core Competencies Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Detail-oriented, proactive, and organised. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Note:- Candidates from Pune will be preferred.
